Current Status & Outlook The core of Tropical Storm DANTE (CHOI-WAN) is now making landfall along the southern coastline of Batangas…maintains its strength as it moved northwestward…expected to traverse the western sections of Batangas and Cavite this evening, and will be over Bataan by early tomorrow morning.

Its rainbands together with its trough (extension) will continue to affect Panay Island, MiMaRoPa, CaLaBaRZon, Metro Manila, and the western portions of Central Luzon. Occasional rain showers with scattered Severe thunderstorms and gusty winds will be expected across these areas today.

24-hr Outlook: TS DANTE is expected to accelerate NNW @ 24 kph and will cross the western sections of Batangas, Cavite, Bataan, Zambales, & Pangasinan tonight through tomorrow morning (6 PM to 8 AM).  The storm is expected to weaken into a Tropical Depression (TD) after crossing the mountains of Zambales, and by tomorrow afternoon, it will be in the vicinity of the West Philippine Sea, near the coast of Ilocos Provinces.

  • Location of Center/Eye: Over Cape Verde Passage, very close to Verde Island (13.6°N 121.1°E)
  • Distance 1: 18 km south-southeast of Batangas City, Batangas
  • Distance 2: 59 km south-southeast of Tagaytay City, Cavite
  • Distance 3: 108 km south of Metro Manila
How strong is it? Maximum Sustained Winds (1-min avg): 65 kph near the center…Gustiness: 85 kph.
