Current Status and Outlook

VICKY (KROVANH*) becomes a Tropical Depression (TD) and has moved out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) while moving westward across the Spratly Group of Islands. This cyclone is no longer a threat to the Philippines.

This is the Final StormWatch on this Tropical Cyclone.

  • Location of Ill-defined Center: Over the Spratly Islands (near 10.3°N 114.3°E)
  • Distance 1: 88 km south of Pagasa Island, Kalayaan (Palawan) 
  • Distance 2: 485 km west of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan
  • Distance 3: 845 km east of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam 
How strong is it? Maximum Sustained Winds (1-min avg): 55 kph near the center…Gustiness: 75 kph.
Past Movement (06 hrs) West-Northwest @ 15 kph, towards the Spratly Islands & South China Sea.

  • TD VICKY (KROVANH) is forecast to become a Tropical Storm (TS) within the next 12 to 24 hours, and will slide southwestward, passing very near Truong Sa Island by tomorrow evening (Dec 21). Kindly refer to our attached StormWatch Track for the forecast wind speeds of this disturbance.
