Current Status & Outlook Typhoon BISING (SURIGAE) has moved a little bit faster during the past 6 hours as it approaches the North Philippine Sea, well to the east of Northern Luzon. 

The typhoon’s westernmost rainbands will bring overcast skies with passing “on-&-off” rain showers, severe thunderstorms and gusty winds (with the help of the NE Windflow) across the eastern & northern sections of Northern Luzon including Batanes & Babuyan Island Group.  Meanwhile, its Trough will also bring cloudy skies with isolated to scattered rain showers and thunderstorms across portions of Luzon including Metro Manila, Bicol Region, Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.

24-hr Outlook: TY BISING (SURIGAE) is forecast to continue moving north-northwestward slowly at a speed of 09 km/hr over the southwestern part of the North Philippine Sea. This cyclone is expected to maintain its Category 4 status within the next 12 to 24 hours.

  • FRIDAY EARLY MORNING: Weakens into a Category 2 TY as it accelerates ENE-ward across the North Philippine Sea, well to the east of Batanes Group…about 438 km E of Basco, Batanes [2AM Apr 23: 20.7°N 126.2°E @ 165 kph].  Confidence Level: HIGH
  • SATURDAY EARLY MORNING: Turns & accelerates  toward east to east-southeast across the eastern part of the North Philippine Sea…just barely a Category 1 TY…about 865 km ENE of Basco, Batanes [2AM Apr 24: 21.9°N 130.2°E @ 120 kph].  Confidence Level: MEDIUM
