Tropical Storm DANTE (CHOI-WAN) Advisory No. 07

Its western & southern rainbands together with its trough (extension) will continue to affect Mindanao, Visayas, and Bicol Region. Occasional rains & Severe thunderstorms with gusty winds will be expected across these areas tonight & tomorrow.

24-hr Outlook: TS DANTE is forecast to move west-northwestward at a forward speed of 20 km/hr…and will make landfall north of Borongan City, Eastern Samar between 7 to 9 PM tonight. The storm will then cross Samar Island late tonight and will pass over or very close to Calbayog City by early tomorrow morning. By 8:00 AM tomorrow morning, DANTE will be in the vicinity of Ticao-Burias Is. Area (Masbate), and over northern edge of Ragay Gulf tomorrow afternoon.

• Distance 1: 62 km east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar
• Distance 2: 120 km east-northeast of Tacloban City, Leyte
• Distance 3: 162 km east-southeast of Calbayog City, Samar

• Landfall 01:  Along Eastern Samar, between 7 to 9 PM  tonight – with High Strike Probability of >90%. 
• Landfall 02:  Over Ticao Island (Masbate) or Sorsogon, between 6 to 8 AM  tomorrow (Wed, June 02) – with High Strike Probability of >90%.

• THURSDAY AFTERNOON: Over the mountains of Kalinga, weakens into a Tropical Depression (TD) as it moves northward…about 48 km NW of Tabuk City, Kalinga [2PM Jun 03: 17.7°N 121.1°E @ 55 kph].  Forecast Confidence: LOW
• FRIDAY AFTERNOON: Emerges over the Bashi Channel as it recurves towards NNE, becoming an Extratropical Cyclone…about 147 km NNE of Itbayat, Batanes [2PM Jun 04: 21.9°N 122.6°E @ 55 kph].  Forecast Confidence: LOW
