Current Status & Outlook | Tropical Storm DANTE (CHOI-WAN) has weakened slightly due to the continued effects of moderate to strong upper-level winds aloft…expected to make landfall over Eastern Samar tonight.
Its western rainbands & trough (extension) will continue to affect Mindanao, Visayas, and Southern Bicol. Scattered to widespread rain showers & Severe thunderstorms with gusty winds will be expected across these areas today. 24-hr Outlook: TS DANTE is forecast to move northwestward across the southwestern portion of the Central Philippine Sea at a forward speed of 19 km/hr…and is expected to make landfall over or south of Borongan City, Eastern Samar between 7 to 9 PM tonight. The storm will then cross Samar Island late tonight and will pass over or very close to Calbayog City by early tomorrow morning. By 8:00 AM tomorrow morning, DANTE will be in the vicinity of Ticao Island, Masbate with little change in strength. |
