Current Status & Outlook | NENENG (NESAT) has rapidly intensified into a Typhoon (TY) after traversing the warm waters of the Luzon Strait…now accelerating westward away from the Babuyan Group of Islands as it exhibits a 44-km ragged eye. Its southern rainbands continue to affect Ilocos Provinces and the western portions of Northern Cagayan, Kalinga, & Apayao – where flood-threatening rainfall and gusty winds of up to 75 km/hr will be felt today. This typhoon will continue to intensify as it exits the northwestern border of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) tonight.
24-hr Outlook: TY NENENG is forecast to maintain its westward motion at a decreased forward speed of 16 km/hr in the general direction of the South China Sea. It will be well outside of the PAR by tomorrow morning. Improving weather conditions will be expected across Extreme Northern Luzon late tonight through tomorrow, as the typhoon moves farther away from the country. |
