Tropical Depression 93W StormWatch No. 01

A rapidly developing area of low pressure with ID number 93W located inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has strengthened into a Tropical Depression (TD)…likely to intensify further and could pose a serious threat to Luzon and Visayas within the next 3 days.

• Location of Center: Over the northeasternmost part of the South Philippine Sea (near 9.2°N 134.1°E)
• Distance 1: 956 km east of Surigao City, Surigao Del Norte
• Distance 2: 947 km east-southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar
• Distance 3: 1181 km east-southeast of Virac, Catanduanes

• TD 93W is expected to rapidly intensify within the next 24 to 48 hours due to conducive atmospheric environment along its path.  Kindly refer to our attached StormWatch Track for the forecast wind speeds of this cyclone.
• Current Typhoon Global Models forecast this TD to pass along the coastal areas of Northern Bicol on Wednesday evening (Nov. 11) with Strike Probability of 50% (medium chance).
• If ever LPA 93W becomes a Tropical Depression (TD), it will be named domestically by PAGASA as “ULYSSES.”
