SEVERE TROPICAL STORM OFEL (USAGI) ADVISORY NO. 06  {FINAL}

Current Status & Outlook OFEL (USAGI) is now decaying over Luzon Strait, just west of Batanes, just a Severe Tropical Storm.  Further weakening is expected within the next 2 days, with complete dissipation after it makes landfall over Southern Taiwan on Sunday.

**This is the Final Advisory on the 15th Philippine Tropical Cyclone for 2024.

Where is OFEL (USAGI)? As of 8:00 AM PhT today, Nov 15…0000 GMT:

  • Location of Center/Eye: Over the western portion of the Bashi Channel (near 20.5°N 120.2°E)
  • Distance 1:  175 km W of Itbayat, Batanes
  • Distance 2:  190 km W of Basco, Batanes
  • Distance 3:  240 km S of Kaohsiung, Taiwan
How strong is it? Maximum Sustained Winds (1-min avg): 110 kph near the center…Gustiness: 140 kph.
Past Movement (06 hrs) NNW @ 14 kph, towards Southern Taiwan.
